St George, Utah is a place like no other. Nestled in between striking red-rock cliffs, it is an oasis blooming in a red desert. The views are indescribable--from majestic Pine Mountain in the distance to the opening into Snow Canyon visible from all of Green Valley.
Both historic and modern homes dot the city, with well-manicured lawns and tidy sidewalks. St George downtown streets are extra wide. The air is clean and clear—no smog problems here. St George enjoys, on average, 300 days a year of sunny weather. Even so, water supplies are adequate for the growing population—and the contrast between blue sky, greet trees and lawns, red mountains, and handsome homes and buildings make for a very appealing landscape. It’s no wonder that Southern Utah is called “Color Country”.
But perhaps the best thing about St George Utah is the people—warm, open, friendly, down-to-earth. Move here and you will be welcomed. Our residents are comprised of people from nearly every state and many foreign countries. Diversity is advancing, and with it the depth and strength this community needs to progress in modern times.
Crime is very low. In fact, in a recent study, St George had the lowest crime rate of all U.S cities of comparable size.
Dixie Regional Medical Center is a 245-bed hospital operated by Intermountain Healthcare. There are actually two hospitals that divide the treatments and care. I’ve had treatment and a stay at the hospital and I can tell you that the facilities are new and first rate. The staff is excellent. Even the food is good! A number of other medical service providers dot the area. There is no shortage of good doctors and specialties—and more are relocating here all the time.
Dixie State College
Established in 1911 and built on the site of the first pioneer encampment in St George, Dixie State College strives to help students define, shape and achieve educational and life goals. Dixie State College offers degrees in a number of fields of study. Dixie State is home to some of the top health science programs in the state, including a nursing program that achieved the highest student pass rate among all programs in Utah on the RN license exam for three-straight years, and a dental hygiene program that consistently scores among the top-10 percent in the nation on board exams.
Washington County and Saint George schools are modern and educational standards are high. The two hospitals are well equipped. Doctors in all specialties are abundant. The City St George and Washington County are well managed and have created favorable conditions for business and growth. Churches of nearly all denominations are available. A new airport is being built. Art, culture, special events—I’m telling you, this is place that can’t be beat.
St George is building the new airport just five miles southeast of downtown S. George. It will be five times the size of the current airport, and will be able to accommodate modern jet aircraft. It is scheduled to open in January 2011.
